Thank you to anyone taking the time to read my little story about how Stellaluna came to find a place in my home. Our story isn’t perfect but I think it has a happy ending. Firstly, my name is Andi. I have an amazing family, two daughters and my boyfriend and our fur children; Tank (a 4 year old English Bulldog) and Stellaluna (our Frenchie who will turn 1 in May). We are big time dog lovers and have served as a foster family to many a dog in need. I have a soft spot in my heart for senior dogs (especially if they are bullies).
Last year my family lost our 7 year old English bulldog Bre to a multitude of health problems and she left a huge gap in the family. I was heartbroken and more importantly our other bulldog was grieving the loss of Bre as well. He just sulked around the house. So we began the search for another dog to help heal our hearts.

We found little Stellaluna (she was previously named “Butterball” because she was such a tubby pup) and made arrangements for a road trip to adopt her. The ride home was great; those giant ears and little paws had melted our hearts. We watched her crawl under and over every seat and stop to see if there was anything for her in the car.
Sadly, as time went on I felt like I just wasn’t connecting with little Stella. I was comparing her to my dearly departed Bre, and it seemed that she wasn’t fitting into our family how I had imagined it. She was a lot of work as all puppies are. I am sad to say that I even considered it, but I had looked into some other families for her. I was racked with guilt that I couldn’t accept this adorable pup into my life simply because she wasn’t Bre.

Now for the happy part…we stuck together and honored the commitment we made to little Stella by bringing her into our home and now it’s perfect. I can’t imagine our lives without her. She has the most amazing personality. She is a comedian, and full of life but she is very loyal. My daughters fondly call her “pig dog” because when she gets excited she jumps into our laps and snorts just like a little pig. Stella fills her days snuggling with our bulldog, chewing any of her many toys (nylabones are one of her favorites), and just generally being funny.
    So…that’s our story.
