Aurora is a very special girl looking for a very special home. This black-masked beauty was lovingly surrendered due to her previous owner’s medical problems. Now, Aurora is ready to bring some Frenchie kisses and joie de vivre to a new forever family.

When Aurora was three, she suffered a back injury while playing in her yard. She had surgery to relieve the pressure of two herniated disks pinching her spinal cord, but even with top notch medical care and physical therapy, she did not regain use of her back legs. Fortunately, Aurora’s muscles and joints are in great shape. She still has some feeling in her legs and backside, and she is fully continent—no diapers needed! And with the way she zips around, either dragging her legs behind her or doing zoomies in her cart, one would be hard pressed to call her “disabled.” Aurora loves to jump, run, and play like a puppy. She will even give a high-five when presented with a biscuit—no small feat for a dog who balances on her front legs!

With slow introductions, Aurora has learned to tolerate her Akita foster sister, but she definitely prefers dogs her size and smaller. A true lady, she doesn’t mind sharing her toys and is not possessive of her food bowl or treats. Aurora has lived in harmony with a cat these last few months, so kitty owners should feel free to apply.

Like another famous Disney princess, Aurora wants to be where the people are. She is a true velcro-Frenchie who follows her foster mom from room to room and cries when she is separated from the family. Aurora especially loves when visitors come over—she is playful with adults and gentle with children. She also enjoys romping in the snow, snuggling, chewing on her Nylabone, snuggling, taking a warm bath, and snuggling. And snuggling. (Did we mention she likes snuggling?)

Health-wise, Aurora is in good shape. While in foster care, she had surgery to treat an inguinal hernia, and she has made a full recovery. Her mild ear irritation is controlled with daily drops, and a limited-ingredient diet has eliminated her allergies. She is fully continent and housebroken, though she does best on a regular potty schedule (and will bark to let you know she needs to go out!) Right now, Aurora has a daily physical therapy routine, which includes simple owner-administered exercises and an oral joint supplement. It is essential that her new family continue this practice to ensure that Aurora’s muscles and joints remain healthy.

As much as she loves spending time around people, Aurora would be fine being left at home during the workweek so long as she has a mid-day potty break. Right now, she is a little too exuberant for an office environment, but since she is a smart girl who responds well to correction and positive reinforcement, it is likely that she could adapt.
