Itchy & Scratchy Part 2 - with pictures

Jax has gotten worse since my post last week. I gave him a bath on Saturday with an anti-itch shampoo that helped a tiny bit. I also switched from Benadryl to Claritin. I have also been rubbing his with witch hazel which I think helps a little. Saturday night he was scratching his face so bad that when I touched it, there was blood on my fingers. I am waiting to hear back from the vet to see if there is anything else I can give him to help with the itching and scratching. It's only been 2 full days since he has been on the new food so I'm hoping he will start feeling better soon.

Poor baby boy, I hope you can find out what he is allergic to soon.

Poor thing! I hope you figure it out too... Sorry I have no advice We have not yet had any allergy issues with Marg (knock on wood).... But seeing as her and Jax are so close in age, I am hoping we don't run into anything.... I read somewhere that frenchies can develop allergies as they get closer to the age of 1....

I sure hope the food works. That sure looks like a contact allergy. You may want to try free and clear detergents. Does Jax like to lay in the grass?

With the weather being cold, he is usually only in the grass to go to the bathroom. I got medication from the vet yesterday to help with the itching (Temaril-P). If the new food does not change anything in a few weeks, I do plan on taking him to a dermatologist.

He looks bad. My boy never looked that bad. Mostly I knew we had a problem because Sarge smelled like dirty feet. My husband said he smelled like a baby camel but since I don't know what a camel smells like I can't comment further on that. Does he smell funny? I had Sarge to my regular vet 2Xs and immediately searched out a dermatologist because all I was getting was a guessing of treatments. I need to know what something is and it's source in order to treat properly so that"s what we did and I'm about 3 months into giving him his injections and he smells good and doesn't have any bumps. Before she had his serum made she made us do a 6 week trial on a prescription RX food made by Royal Canin called Allergan or something like that. It stinks and looks like corn nuggets. The way it's processed it's impossible for the dog to have a reaction to it. Only the owner reacts to the $114 per bag price tag. They aren't allowed any scraps, treats of any kind or bones that could have any beef source or any meat source on them during this time. We had no improvement with the diet so we knew it was environmental and proceeded with the testing and then had the serum made. Look for a specialist and save yourself money in the long run. PS: Don't change too many things at once or you won't know what's causing his issues.

[MENTION=204]Kris Thomas LaBounty[/MENTION] - Jax does not have any sort of funky smell to him (although I'm not sure what a baby camel smells like either ). I believe he started getting all of the marks from scratching so much. He was literally just sitting and scratching, scratching, scratching. I got some medicine from the vet last night to help with the itching. If this new food doesn't work, I am definitely going to take him to the dermatologist. The vet said to keep him on this food for at least 6 - 8 weeks to see if it was a food allergy with the old food.

Poor babies, sad when we can't fix everything for them. Hope he gets better!

Poor Jax. Looking at those pictures just made me itch! I hope the anti itch medicine helps him.

The medicine is already working...yay! Jax has barely been scratching today. Hopefully I won't have to give it to him for too long.

poor baby boy & Mum! glad meds are working. When Winston scratches his face and marks it I have dabbed on a little sudcrem and it's been much better in the morning x
