Six-year-old Mariel has a lot to be grateful for -- a Good Samaritan brought her and another dog in to FBRN from a puppy mill auction where at the advanced age of 6 she was to be sold to someone to produce more puppies. Since then, she has been fully vetted and spayed with a clean bill of health and now she's ready for a new life as a loved pet. Now fostered in Minnesota, she has proven herself to be a chipper gal who's good with other dogs and loves to be around her people!

She's looking for a forever home with a fenced yard and someone to help her learn how to be a proper house-dog. Mariel had a sleep-over recently in the home of a volunteer who has kitties. Success! Mariel left the cats alone. Though Mariel needs a little work in some areas, she's come a long way: since she was rescued, her foster mama has taught put her on a schedule to teach her to potty outdoors and to accept some gentle handling.

Mariel has a bit of separation anxiety. She barks when she is crated and left alone in the house, so a home with close neighbors or shared walls would not be the best choice. Having the tv on and having doggy pals around seems to help a bit.

Mariel is a very active girl who loves to play and chew her bones. She's been likened to a gazelle for her athletic prowess! If you're looking for a fun, playful new friend, this is the dog for you, just ask her foster family:

"Mariel is a six year old puppy. Everything is new to her and she is learning the ropes. She loves squeaky toys and food! She is high energy but loves to snuggle on the couch with you. She loves being with her people and playing with other dogs. She will make a great pet."
