The infamous John Locke is now looking for his forever home. Surrendered after his former owners underwent some familial changes and no longer felt like they were able to provide the care he needed, John Locke came to FBRN with a bad back and weak hind legs. But this hasn’t stopped John Locke from being one adventurous frog! He’s no couch potato. John Locke gets around remarkably well and loves to play fetch with his ball…nonstop. He can walk, but should wear booties on his hind legs to help him keep his footing. He uses a cart whenever he goes on a leashed walk around the neighborhood. He’s hoping to find a forever family who can spend a lot of time with him because this little guy cannot get enough attention!

John Locke gets along great with other dogs and cats. He has not reacted to other dogs he comes across and shows no possessiveness or food aggression. Because of his condition, John Locke is incontinent. He goes outside to potty, but can sometimes have some uncontrolled accidents so he wears a belly band or diaper in his foster home. He is incredibly patient with the children in his foster home. He exhibits no aggression issues but is sometimes protective of them. This does not manifest into aggressive behavior but he can get tense if they are playing with their parents and excitedly screaming and/or laughing. However, he would probably do best in an adults-only home or with a family with older children, since his caretakers will need to be sensitive to his mobility issues, and children can be forgetful of his injuries and try to pick him up or otherwise accidentally reinjure him. He is not a velcro dog but, like most Frenchies, he would prefer you to be within sight when you’re home. He’s a happy-go-lucky guy that enjoys his tennis balls, stuffies, and chews.

John Locke may be fine to live in an apartment, but his ideal home would be a house with a fenced yard. The fewer the stairs, the better for John Locke. He will probably need to be carried up and down the stairs. He may be fine to accompany his new owner to work in an office, since he hasn’t shown any problems when being introduced to new situations. It is imperative that John Locke’s forever parents continue his physical therapy and be willing to do some at-home rehabilitation with him.
