Rider has made it to the available page! This wonderful cream puff is looking for a special forever home to live out the rest of his days. Rider was surrendered by his former owners when they felt unable to care for his loss of mobility in his hind legs. He has subarachnoid diverticulum, which is a patch of spinal fluid that pushes against his spinal cord, resulting in limited mobility. He also has a compromised immune system from a staph infection that resolved.

Rider’s ideal forever parents will have time to dedicate to him and will be home most of the day. His foster mom reports that he loves everyone. Because he has difficulty walking, Rider would do best in a single-story home with a fenced, grassy yard. He would do better with older dogs than puppies, and can be around older children who are mindful of his condition. This lovable frog just wants to lounge around – until he lays eyes on a chew toy! When Rider sees his Nylabone, he will zoom over in excitement. Like a lot of Frenchies, Rider has some skin itchies due to allergies, so he will need weekly baths with medicated shampoo. He should be kept on a grain-free diet.

Rider loves children and gets along with other dogs. He has no reported aggression or possession issues. Due to his hindered mobility, Rider can be knocked over easily by larger or energetic dogs. Because he has not been exposed to cats, he will not be placed in a home with felines, per FBRN policy. He will bark at strangers that come into the home, and will look to a strong leader for direction. Rider is housebroken. However, he uses a belly band because he will sometimes have a little uncontrolled dribble when he urinates due to his condition. He retains full control over his bowel movements but needs to be kept on a regular schedule. He walks slowly and should be on grass when outside to protect his feet, as he appears to be averse to wearing booties. He is crate-trained.
