Smoochie was surrendered to FBRN back when he was just a wee pup of 2 years old. The family who adopted him lived in Florida and Smoochie spent 5 wonderful years with them. However, when they moved from Florida to the Pacific Northwest, Smoochie did not adjust well. His allergies became much worse and his adopters could not find anything to help him. They contacted FBRN to see if we could take him back and help him find a family that lives somewhere that agrees better with Smoochie's system. Now Smoochie is ready to find that perfect forever home! Hopefully, somewhere not so itchy!

Smoochie has a few health issues beyond his allergies; he has a herniated disc in his lower back that is old and has mineralized, as well as hip displaysia which causes his hind legs to be somewhat weak. He has arthritis in his left hip. Any potential home needs to understand that he requires pain management for his arthritis, a strict hypoallergenic diet, and weekly/bi-weekly anti-microbial baths to maintain skin & coat health. Smooch can't take stairs very well and would do best in a home that has a ramp or only a couple of stairs. An apartment with an elevator might be an option as well!

Recently, there was an incident in Smoochie's foster home involving one of the children. While the parent was out of the room, there was a bite incident and the 4 year-old had to have a bit of surgical glue applied to a bite wound. Previously, Smoochie had gotten along very well with the children in the family, so we aren't sure what happened, but Smoochie won't be placed in a home with children or teens under 18, or where children are regular visitors.
