Tirpitz is a healthy honey-pied little boy! He has sensitive skin, but does very well on a prescription food. While in foster care, he had a bout of giardia, but was given the all clear at his last vet check! He is mostly potty trained, but has difficulties communicating if he needs to go out. His foster home has noticed he will sit by the door, so he may have been used to a doggie door.

Tirpitz suffers from separation anxiety where he will soil his area, bark, and generally get worked up when he is left alone. He also likes to explore when left on his own (and climb furniture!), so being kept in a crate or confined in one area when left unattended is a must. Tirpitz needs someone devoted to working through his separation issues and keeping him on a rigid potty schedule. He would love a home with someone who is home all day or can take him to work with them.

Tirpitz enjoys chewing bones, antlers, and the occasional stuffy, but most of all, he loves his people! A retired person or couple or someone who works from home would be ideal for him.

While Tirpitz is generally an easy going guy, he does have a prey drive and will chase squirrels and cats. He was also a part of an incident where a cat was sadly killed, so absolutely no to cats. A quiet laid-back home with no children or children over 12 is a must for him. When he was in a home with toddlers, he tried to nip at them if they moved rapidly or attempted to take his toy. Children over 12 who understand how to be calm around dogs would be a-okay with Tirpitz.

Due to his anxiety, a dog sibling would be wonderful! He has only been around dogs his size or smaller, and grew up with other Frenchies. Since he is so people focused, his foster mom thinks he would also be ok as an only dog, but would need someone willing to work more with his separation anxiety.
