Danielle is a medium- to high-energy dog. She loves to play for hours, but will remove herself for a break when she wants to be lazy. Although she plays with the resident dogs in her foster home, she can be dominant, which is common in Frenchies. She will take toys away from other dogs and growl if they get too close to a chew toy she’s enjoying. She has not displayed any of this behavior towards humans though. Danielle loves to play tug of war with you, just be aware that she won’t let go until she decides to! She loves to show off to her humans all the stretching poses she knows, and really loves her chewies. Danielle has a high prey drive, so she may do best in a home without smaller dogs or critters. She has not been exposed to cats so her behavior around them is unknown. As such, she will not be placed in a home with felines, per FBRN policy.

A home with children is fine, but they should be older and dog-savvy, accustomed to watching their door and gate habits to be sure the dog doesn't get out. Adventurous and curious, Danielle will try to bolt through open doors to explore the world outside – which is no place for this precious lady to be alone. She has no bite history, but needs reminders to be more gentle when taking treats. Her foster mom feeds Danielle and the resident dog separately. Danielle is housebroken and crate-trained, but she still has had daily accidents in her foster home. Unsurprisingly in Frenchies, Danielle is a little stubborn. She knows commands, and seems to perform them selectively. She can be a little aggressive on the leash, pulling towards other dogs or any wildlife she sees outside. Danielle will need a strong leader that she can feel comfortable following. She can be dominant and exhibit some possessiveness, but focused guidance and leadership will go a long way in improving these behaviors.
