Bowie was surrendered by his family when he snapped and nipped at the resident children. Although he never drew blood, he will have to be placed in a home with no kids or older (12+) kids and only calm or quiet dogs. He'd be happy as an only dog, too. Depending on the dog, he may be reactive to other dogs when he's on leash, so he should only be walked by adults.

In terms of the snapping at the children, his foster parents believe that part of his snappiness is the result of back pain that would make even the most gentle of souls a tad cranky. He underwent back surgery days after he came to us. Since he’s been at his foster home, he has never tried to bite anyone. You’ll have to limit his athletics: no jumping, no stairs and no marathons. He needs a leisurely life or walking, snoozing, playing and cuddling. Preference will go to applicants with experience with dogs who've had back issues or special needs and who can handle a dog who likes things his way. Tell us about your history in your application.

Frenchies are stubborn dogs, but Bowie takes it to another level: he growls resentfully (never offers to bite, however) when he is corrected. Be firm! He’s only trying to sound tough. One exception, though: he is truly very unhappy in his crate. Baby gates are a better option when you are out of the house, and he should be fine since he is well housebroken. You’d do better if you have some Frenchie experience.

Otherwise, he’s happy just hanging out with his people, kissing and snuggling. You could take him to the office with you, or leave him at home. Be a strong leader and he will blossom under your care and you’ll have a funny, friendly wiggly clown. Training classes would be a great idea to help you establish your place as the boss.
