Emry has zoomed onto the available page! This happy-go-lucky boy is on the hunt for his forever family! Emry came to FBRN when his former family tearfully surrendered him after realizing they did not have the time or resources to provide the care Emry needed.

Emry is paralyzed and has a cart. He is very mobile in his cart and can also pull himself around without it. He was examined by a specialist, but unfortunately, he was not a good candidate for surgery. Fortunately, Emry doesn’t know the difference and is as happy as can be! Emry is receiving acupuncture one to two times a week and has daily physical therapy at home to keep his back legs from getting too atrophied. We hope that his forever home will continue his treatment to make him as comfortable as possible.

Emry’s paralysis has also made him incontinent. He wears a belly band around the house that needs changed several times a day, and his new home will need to learn how to express his bladder to help prevent urinary tract infections. While this may sound daunting, once you learn, it’s fairly quick and easy. Your vet can show you how, or if you’re excited to learn right away here’s a great instructional video.

Despite his physical handicap, Emry is full of life. You know when he is happy and he often has a big smile on his face. He loves people of all ages including small children! He gets along with cats, and LOVES other dogs. Emry enjoys hanging out and playing with dogs, especially other Frenchies. His favorites toys are stuffed squeaky toys.
Most of the time he is very quiet and just enjoys being with his people and canine companions. He will bark when he plays and when he wants out of his crate. Emry has no behavior or temperament issues, and is a very happy boy. When he gets excited he rolls around on the floor and bops around the house with a big smile. While Emry is crate trained, he does not have any control over his bowels or bladder so accidents must be understood and not punished.

Ideally, Emry’s forever home would be one where someone is home most of the time. Because of his paralysis, he does need his bladder expressed and belly band changed several times a day, so staying in a crate all day while his owners worked would not be a good fit as he would be at risk for urinary tract infections. Emry’s forever home must also be committed to continuing his acupuncture and physical therapy. Past experience with a cart dog would be absolutely ideal! Emry doesn’t care if he lives in a house or an apartment as he doesn’t need a lot of room, but a home without stairs would be best.
