An adopter for Taz must be experienced in working with reactive dogs. He is with a trainer whose facility is approximately midway between Allentown, PA and Edison, NJ. Candidates should live close enough to commit to six weeks of pre adoption visits and training work before taking Taz home.

Ideally the person would live alone or else every household resident must have the same level of commitment.

Taz is a good looking, smart and funny companion for the right person. He behaves wonderfully when he is with his trainer.

Taz is a dominant dog. His trainer reports that he is a big dog in a little dog's body. He will need a very special family. They must be confident in their ability to give Taz a secure home and who will commit to keep working on his obedience training.

The perfect home for Taz would be one in which he was an only dog. He will take advantage of smaller dogs and can be a bit of a bully. A larger dog who is not intimidated or easily pushed around might be a possibility as well.

Critters and cats are a "definitely not!" for Taz. He's not great with other critters.

Because of Taz's bite history, he won't go to a family with children or where children are frequent visitors.

Taz loves and needs lots of exercise! A fenced-in yard where Taz can run around would be great, or if you like to go on long walks, then Taz will be your constant companion! Taz is not your Frenchie couch-potato. He needs to stay busy physically and mentally!

Taz is house trained, but he does have crate aggression. We have learned that Taz is very food motivated, so crate-training with food may help with his crate aggression if you must crate him. He gets scared of the crate and lashes out when the door shuts.

If you work from home, you'd be perfect for Taz! He can't go to the office with you, but he'd love if someone was home with him all day to continue working on his behaviors.
