NOTE: BENNIE HAS A BITE HISTORY

Our old friend Bennie has found himself back with FBRN and is once again on the hunt for his forever home. Bennie was previously adopted, but has returned due to his anxiety and resulting reactivity. His former family realized that he was too much for them to handle, and surrendered him in hopes that he could find a forever family that really meets his needs.

Bennie is physically healthy except for some mild allergies that are controlled with Benadryl. For the most part he is a happy dog who loves to snuggle, play fetch, and do tricks. However, when things are hectic or there is a lot going on, he can be easily overwhelmed and have anxiety attacks. He has bitten other dogs and people in the past, none of which required medical attention, and will require an experienced owner to guide him back to calmness.

The perfect home for Bennie would be a very peaceful environment with no children or other pets. A low-key person or couple that is looking for a fun, loyal companion and is willing to work with him would be Bennie’s ideal family. A fenced yard is required, since Bennie has a very strong prey drive and has escaped being tied up in the past.

Bennie is completely housebroken, but does not like to be crated. He does fine being segregated or behind a closed door, just no crates. While Bennie would enjoy having his people home with him during the day, he doesn’t chew or destroy anything, so he would be fine having run of the house if he were an only dog. Given his anxiety, he probably would not be a good office dog, unless it was a very calm environment without many people coming and going. It will take a special person to manage his needs, but in the right home, this frog will flourish!
