The indefatigable Tarzan is now ready to find the perfect forever home to spend the rest of his days. Tarzan is a senior dog that was surrendered by his former owners, along with his senior canine sister, when they got new puppies. It’s been jarring for Tarzan to accept the sudden change to his long-familiar surroundings, but he’s proven to be a wonderful frog deserving of a loving forever home.

Every icon has their weakness, and Tarzan is no exception. Tarzan has allergies, likely environmental, and is on a salmon and grain-free diet. He takes twice-daily Benadryl and will wear a shirt on especially itchy days to protect him from over-scratching himself. His vet history also indicates that he has some bad discs, but they do not appear to be any worse than the average Frenchie at his age. His foster mom reports that Tarzan has not exhibited any back or joint symptoms.

Tarzan has a great temperament, showing no food or toy aggression with humans or the resident dog. He is a total snuggle bug whose favorite spot is right at your side or in your lap. Tarzan is pretty laid back and mellow, but enjoys a good romp or play session. He prefers shorter trips outside over longer walks. He wolfs his food down and loves treats.

Tarzan has not been around very young children in close proximity, but exhibits no particular interest in children he sees when out on his walks. Tarzan has not been exposed to cats, so he will not be placed in a home with felines, per FBRN policy. Tarzan does well with the resident canine and with other dogs that he meets in the dog parks or on his walks. However, his original home reported Tarzan is somewhat of a star, like his namesake, and wants to be the center of human attention so he can get snarky with other dogs. His foster mom reports that snarkiness hasn’t come up during his time in his foster home, and that he responds easily to verbal correction.

This adorable senior frog is housebroken and does great on a leash. He knows basic commands. Because he is a senior dog, please address how you are equipped to care for his needs in your application. His foster mom reports that Tarzan loves to snuggle up next to his humans. His forever parents should feel comfortable letting him sit next to them on the couch and he would do best if allowed to sleep in the bed with his owners at night. However, Tarzan should not be allowed to jump on furniture, given his age. He needs to be assisted onto furniture or provided with a ramp. His owners should also prevent him from engaging in any other high-impact activities.

Tarzan would do fine in almost any environment – house or apartment. He can be left alone during the day as long as his owners gave him a mid-day potty break. A fence is not required as he has low exercise needs, but he should be leashed if outside in an unsecured area. He can probably also accompany his owners to work in an office since he’s a pretty quiet guy.
