When Robby went down in the rear, his previous family surrendered him because they did not think they could manage during his recovery from back surgery. Robby had back surgery 5 weeks ago, and has done amazingly well. He is just finishing full time crate rest, and his doctors expect him to make a 100% recovery. Robby still has some strength to regain but has been able to take quiet walks during his recovery. He will require a home that will limit his use of stairs and monitor his activities (no jumping on and off the couch) so that he doesn’t damage his back again.

Robby likes everyone and has a wonderful personality! He has been around 9 and 12 year old children, dogs and cats, and he’s been friendly with everyone. Robby gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home, but doesn’t really seek out their company. He prefers to be with his person, so we think he’d do just fine as an only pet.

Robby is your typical Frenchie...very happy to go for a short walk then come back inside and snuggle. He LOVES his tennis ball and likes if you throw it for him a bit, but is just as happy to chew on the ball and play on his own. Robby has a favorite rawhide bone that he does not chew. He makes sure to always know where it is, and will often try to bury it in his x-pen. His foster mom does not allow him to have this special rawhide bone around the other dogs since he seems to be a little too protective of it. Robby is house broken and has not had any accidents while in foster care.

Since Robby really just wants to be with his people, we think a home without other dogs, or a home with an independent canine companion would be ideal. Robby is great with the dog-savvy cat in his foster home, but he wants to chase other cats that run from him. It is playful, but he will chase if they run so only dog-savvy cats should apply. Due to his back injury, we think children 8 and older are best. Kids must be old enough and compassionate enough to understand that though Robby *looks* okay, he has had major surgery and must be watched carefully.

Robby would LOVE a stay at home parent, but we realize this isn’t always possible. He would need a mid-day break if his owner worked away from home. Robby would do great going to work with his person. He loves working with his foster mom, and just hangs in the office and naps quietly in his dog bed all day. He would not be a good apartment dog because he barks in his x-pen when you leave. He will quiet down after a few minutes but when he hears you coming home he starts barking with excitement again! Due to his back injury, a home without stairs would be best.
