Hi, my name is Matthew, my wife and I are looking to get a frenchie pup in early May and are trying to decide between two, a much darker black brindle girl and a lighter black brindle male.

My question is due in part because we are being shown pictures at almost 2 weeks old and I am curious as to how much more the male might darken, with specific regards to the lips and face areas.

The males brindling is not extreme like tiger stripes or anything though overall coat seems lighter than his sister, is there any reason to believe it will continue to grow to get darker after say 8 weeks? Or 6 months?

I am new to puppy ownership and apologize if this is a silly superficial question but it's for my wife and I'm not sure how else to help, thank you in advance!

The photos show the boy being held (LEFT)next to darker sister (RIGHT) and then a couple pictures of the boy (noticable light brindling) and one of his sister (much darker for comparison)

My goodness they are adorable!

My guy was almost all black with some signs of brindle.... now at 10 yrs he is all stripped brindle. It is very hard to know how much will change

Thank you for your advice! We went with the girl for the darker coat and based on informed predictions that the breeder showed us from similar pups from many past litters.

I appreciate your help!
