Pet Insurance

Just curious because the hubby and I have been debating it, but do you have pet insurance for your bullies? If so, are you happy with your company, has it paid off?

Sorry no help here either. We have three dogs with no insurance... I never even really checked rates so not sure!

I've looked into insurance and there are some companies who provide a good service, but after talking it all over with my husband we just decided to open a savings account for the dogs and we store money there monthly. It definitely came in handy when one of our Labs tore her ACL.....definitely an expensive procedure.

That's probably a good idea, and I should start doing that!

We don't have insurance for Winston because at the minute we can take him to the PDSA in the uk they will treat him for a donation. We will however look into insurance when we get another Frenchie. Most people I know have a savings account for vet emergencies. All the reviews over here in the UK say to get the top level of insurance as the lower levels are virtually useless.

It does get expensive when they're not feeling well. I want to look into it just to satisfy my curiosity.

Pet insurance what a wonderful wonderful option. I have NEVER had pet insurance before but when we got Ollie 2 months ago I purchased it just in case we needed good coverage for our new puppy and thank god we did. He broke his elbow about 6 weeks ago now after jumping down just 2 stairs and landing wrong. The specialist he saw and the emergency hospital bills totaled over $4000!!! We have Healthy Paws and we had just signed up like 3 weeks prior to him breaking the elbow! They paid 80% of all the bills and within ten days of receiving the invoices from the vets office. I highly highly recommend getting pet insurance. You never know when you will need it. I'm sooooo glad I did. My boy was given the best care and I didn't have to worry about the costs. Yes, you have to pay up front but they reimburse you quickly. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to email me.

I have VPI. They have 3 different plans to choose from plus 2 different wellness plans (office visits, fecal tests, immunizations, etc). It is fairly inexpensive per month and will definitely pay off if your pet becomes sick or get hurts. I usually get reimbursed within a week of submitting the claim form. I highly recommend pet insurance.

Yes, we have Trupanion. My 7 month frenchie had pyloric stenosis where the stomach closes off and can't pass food, they paid for 90% of
the surgery, he also has colitis, and they pay for part of his food. I get the checks with in a week of when I submit them. I pay about
58.00 per month per frenchie I have a 500.00 deductible. I highly recommend it.

I pay $45.00 a month with Healthy Paws and I have a 80% coverage plan with no annual or lifetime caps. I read about Trupanion as well. Great company! In the past I have never carried pet insurance and now that I have gotten it and it paid off, I will alwasy carry it on my boys. It's partucularily good to get when they are young.
