Calvin is an energetic, acrobatic boy who is constantly on the go. If given the opportunity, he will jump from object to object in an attempt to reach the highest point possible (we suspect he may be part mountain goat). Calvin loves gnawing on Nylabones and has a special fondness for squeaky toys—the louder, the better! He also enjoys playing a version of fetch in while he chases a ball, picks it up, and makes no attempt to bring it back. Although he gets plenty of exercise doing zoomies through the house, Calvin is always ready for some outdoor play or a walk with his person. He has also proven himself to be an excellent snuggle partner, and particularly enjoys snoozing on his human’s chest.

In true bulldog fashion, Calvin has a bit of a hard head, in both the literal and figurative sense. He uses his noggin to plow through baby gates and mow over small objects if they stand between him and something he wants. Calvin is also a champion jumper (perhaps he is part kangaroo as well?) and can clear small fences in a single bound. For this reason, his forever home must have a fully enclosed yard with fences at least five feet high.

Calvin is definitely a leader, rather than a follower, but he gets along splendidly with dogs of all ages and temperaments. He likes cats just fine, and thinks children are a-ok, too! Given his speed and work-in-progress house skills, we think older kids who won't be easily mowed down and who are good about closing doors and gates would be best. If fed inside his crate, Calvin guards his food dish from other dogs, but has displayed no signs of aggression while in foster care and is reported to be sweet as pie.

Calvin is crate-trained, but will have accidents inside his crate if he does not get regular bathroom breaks. Potential adopters must understand that Calvin spent most of his life in a kennel, not a house, so his potty manners are not quite up to par. At present, Calvin must be taken outside at least once every four hours to prevent accidents. His forever family should be prepared to continue Calvin’s housetraining using positive reinforcement techniques.

Calvin would love to come to work with you, and promises that he will charm both your colleagues and customers. If your employer isn’t so keen on the idea of a new furry co-worker, Calvin can be crated during the working day, so long as he receives his requisite potty breaks. A first-time Frenchie owner would suit him just fine. What Calvin wants most of all is a home where he can be part of the action, and spend as much time as possible with his beloved people.
