Half Pint is 10 months old, so while he is crate- and house-trained, he does have the exuberance of a puppy and should be supervised so he won’t eat things he shouldn’t eat or chew things he shouldn’t chew. He is a quick learner and eager to please, so he has the basics down: sit, stay, leave it, and heel.

Aside from skin allergies, Half Pint is in great shape. There isn’t a person or pet he hasn’t liked, but what he really loves are toys! Toys, and balls especially, take up his attention when he is in the same room with them. He will need some work to become cooperative around toys, since he has a tendency to be mouthy around them.

Other Half Pint hobbies include fetching, walking, hiking, and chewing his Nylabone. He will eventually settle down for a cuddle, but he’s a puppy and has that puppy energy. Applicants should mention a plan for burning off some of that energy in their application.

Half Pint would do well in a family where someone is home all day or he could be taken to work, and in a house with a fenced yard. Until he has learned not to jump up on people, he should be with adults and older kids only.

He’s a happy-go-lucky kid, though, and takes most situations in stride. As long as he has some people to love, he’ll be happy. Half Pint brings joy to all he meets and wants to be part of a family.
