Our sweet old lady Hera has hit the available page! This girl is just a puppy at heart and loves to play like one. Hera came to FBRN because her owner was having health problems. This little girl lived outside and came to us with a myriad of health problems herself.

Many of these conditions have been treated, but Hera would like a forever family that is committed to continuing the treatments that she needs for the rest of her life. She has dry eyes, which require eye ointment twice daily and eye drops once a day. It is important Hera gets the ointment and drops or she will go blind. Hera has been placed on a raw diet because of her allergies. She also needs medicated baths and ear cleanings on a weekly basis to keep the evil itchies at bay. She previously had hind leg weakness, but daily walks have made this old girl much stronger and she can now run and jump! Just don’t let her jump on and off the couch or bed! Many Frenchies have injured their backs jumping on and off the furniture.

Hera has never been introduced to cats, so for everyone's safety, cats are a no. Hera loves children. She is a puppy at heart and doesn’t realize her own strength when it is play time. Hera would love a family with kids, as long as they are dog-savvy and able to correctly correct her when she gets too excited! Hera should not be in a house with smaller animals in case she wants to “play” with them. Dogs the same size or bigger who can play with Hera and can manage her excited play would be a plus.

Hera is housebroken and her foster mom currently does not crate her, as she is well behaved without the crate. She would do great in any home, as long as there are no stairs or she can be carried up and down the stairs all the time. She is getting older and stairs pose a bit of an issue for her. One way our adopters have coped with stairs in a home is to block the top and bottom with baby gates, the same way they do with toddlers. Hera also should be walked with a harness instead of leash because of her breathing problems. Hera would make a good office dog as she is social and loves to stay by her person all day. If her forever family were to work, she would be fine with a mid-day potty break!
