bullmama, have you seen dogs that don't like them? My 3 seem to not want it at all. Eventually i will get them to eat it but it does take awhile to do so. Was thinking on maybe trying HardyPet brand which seems close to NuVet.

I have heard of one who didn't like it - a picky eater- but mine go nuts for them. You could try mashing it with a fork and sprinkle on the food?

    Re: NuVet Plus Supplement

I was brushing Gus before his bath today and noticed that a ridiculous amount of hair was coming out - like 3x what was normal for him. After his bath, I trimmed his nails and ended up covered in hair, so I brushed him out again. I got about as much off as the first time.

I JUST realized that the only thing that has been different is that he hadn't had his NuVet supplement in 10 days. I got up and gave one to him immediately. Gus has been on NuVet almost since I brought him home, so I didn't fully realize how much it was doing for his coat.

That doesn't mean anything. My dog lost a huge amount of hair when I switched her from a poor quality grain based dog food to a healthy dehydrated raw dog food due to detoxification. But then her body got used to new food and she sheds less than she ever did. It's also seasonal shedding time.

Do you give coconut oil or salmon oil? That can also help with their coat.

Ok, maybe it's seasonal. It's the only change I made, so doubt it's food based.

edit: Yes, I do give him coconut oil.

    Re: NuVet Plus Supplement

I am going to give Nuvet a try. Molly had a little issue with Demodex Mites when she was about 3 months old. I say "a little issue" because I have seen pictures of dogs that look like they had a lot of hair loss and irritation. The vet was treating the mite problem with NexGard. Molly's skin cleared up quickly. The other day the vet office said we could continue the NexGard treatment, or go without it now to see if her own immune system is strong enough to take care of the problem now. I decided to go without the NexGard for now. I know there is a risk of the problem flaring up again, but I will go right back to treating her if it does. I just ordered Nuvet after reading that it help develop the dog's immune system. I am hoping Molly's immune system is built up enough now to keep the mite population down. If not, hopefully the Nuvet Plus supplement will help. Has anybody else tried this approach?

Nexgard is a good product for tick and flea protection too, so you might as well continue that if dog is being exposed to that all year.

Thanks for the info. I did think about that. We are from the Chicago area and it's getting cold. Snow will be here soon enough. I think the vet is taking the seasonal timing into consideration. I don't think we will go too long without using NexGard for flea and ticks.

Probably you can stop giving flea and tick from December-March, and resume in April, check with your vet.
