Good afternoon guys :)
So chowder is coming up on his 13 weeks (hes growing so fast, we got him when he was 3 and some pounds, now hes about 6) so the food that hes on (kirkland puppy formula) suggests we only feed him 1 cup now. (used to feed him 1 1/4 cup) I feel as if chowder still feels hungry and hes acting a little more sluggish. can this be related? did you guys cut your dogs food amount drastically or did you guys have to slowly wean them off? let me know thank you!

Seems a little early to be weaning-off towards a smaller portion. Hmm...

Also perhaps as a comparison, Bear was 10.5 pounds at 12 weeks of age (all muscle). Is there any chance Tony is underweight?

Or maybe Bear is just giant.

At 13 weeks I wouldn't cut back any portions, I would not cut back unless he's starting to get chubby- which is usually at over a year old.... Or if he has loose stools... :hmm:

I would NOT cut back on food. Puppies grow a TON in this first 6 months. I don't like to over feed but I would stick to 1 and 1/4 cups per day. Chowder looks like to me. I feed Batty about that same amount. He's 16 weeks and probably about 10-11 pounds....

Could the food they switched to be more nutrient bearing, therefore the same quantity fed may not be necessary? What was the food you were on? Did you gradually transition from the original food to the Kirkland brand?

XoXo from Quella La Roux and her mommy too!

chowder has only been fed on kirkland puppy formula, He had giardia before (which he is clear now thank god) so we didnt want to change food yet. (dont want to stress his stomach more than it already has)

man i totally misread the feeding guide, so i should be feeding chowder about 1 1/2 cups a day( broken in 3 times) right?
hes about 6-7lbs @ 13weeks

Yep, about 1 1/2 cup a day split into three times a day would be good. He is either a small boy or under weight. Our 5 week old Frenchie pups are 5 pounds now.
