Meet Baxter. He is 6 yrs. old and smaller than his buddy, Otto. He is timid in new situations and a bit shy with new people, but he warms up quickly. He seems to be adjusting well. Baxter ran away from our cat who is larger than him. Good idea, Baxter! Baxter is more dependent than Otto. Ideally they would be adopted together or with another dog in residence with a similar personality. Baxter also gets along great with his 2 yr Frenchie foster brother, Zeke.

His personality is coming out with little dances when he sees us coming. He’s exploring the fenced in backyard without Otto by his side. When Zeke goes out, Baxter is right beside him. Although he is not the lapdog that Otto is, Baxter will lay down within arm’s reach.

Baxter and his buddy, Otto are a couple of Boston Terrier/French Bulldog mixed breed guys that were in a kill shelter in Virginia. A local woman saw them there and contacted The Village to see if we could help. We were able to pull them both from the shelter, just in the nick of time. They were surrendered to the shelter on 11/9 – and literally only had a few hours left to be saved. The Village came together to save these two lives.

They have had all of their shots: Rabies 3 yr. ,Bordetella and DA2CPV. They have had their ears cleaned and they are being treated with Tresaderm drops, once a day for possible ear mites for the next few weeks. Both boys are negative on heartworm, lyme, and ehrichia. The were wormed on 11/20 by the shelter.

The brindle fellow is named Otto and he is very out going and sweet. He is the older one, at 8 years old. The black and white one is Baxter. He is 6 years old and is sweet, but very laid back and little shy. We are not sure if it is due to the trauma of shelter life over the past few weeks. They are both neutered. They will each need dental work. They need to have their teeth cleaned and they both have some rotten teeth that need to come out as soon as possible.

They are settling in to their foster home and we will find out more about them as they make the adjustment. They did great on the car ride home. They are enjoying the large, fenced yard at their foster home. Stay tuned as we get to know these sweet boys.
