When a dog has difficulty passing phlegm, there is also difficulty breathing It is very scary to observe your dog being unable to expel phlegm or vomit and struggling to breath. Be prepared to press with your fingers on the back on your dog’s tongue to allow for the passage of a collection of phlegm or vomit.
Many dogs produce yellow bile phlegm in the morning. A biscuit at night and upon waking can reduce the incidence.

Emergency Bland Diet for Sickness:
1 lb. ground beef, 2 cups rice (not instant), 2 cups cold water, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, mix in saucepan and bring to a boil; boil till rice is cooked; add water if needed as cooking; cool and feed 1 1/2 cups 2 times a day.
Flatulence:
One or two TBS whole fat yogurt daily, or acidophilus or Beano can help with Bulldog gas.
Chin Acne:
Use stainless steel bowls at all times. Plastic & crockery harbor bacteria and cause little chin zits which can lead to infection. Wipe the chin with Listerine then dust lightly with Gold Bond Medicated powder.
Shedding:
Add 1 TBS of peanut oil, olive oil, corn oil or salmon oil daily to food.
Brush your dog daily.
Allergies:
1 mg. of Benadryl per lb. of body weight 2 times / day.
The pink Benadryl pill or capsule is 25 mg.
Yeasty Feet and/or Inter-Digital Cysts :
2 gallons of warm water in the tub; add 1 cup of Clorox and stand the dog in it for 5-10 minutes. Do not rinse - just pat dry with an old towel. Do this for 4-5 days, if the feet do not improve then see the vet. You can also put hemorrhoid cream on the cyst.

Apply Listerine mouthwash or apple cider vinegar, pat dry, and then dust lightly with Gold Bond powder. Persistent areas may be ringworm or staph and need to be diagnosed by a vet.
Head Shakes:
Some bulldogs will experience a bit of hypoglycemia sometimes between meals. A bit of ice cream, cookies or just about anything sweet will help to control it. Repeated and persistent head tremors are a different issue which need to be addressed by your vet.
Pain Relievers:
Regular baby aspirin or buffered aspirin are the only “otc” pain relievers that are safe to give to your dog on occasion. NEVER give your dog Tylenol, Advil or Aleve.

Keep “squirt” lemon juice (can be found at your local grocery store). Squirt it quickly down the throat to break up the phlegm.
