This angel was dumped in a ditch, abandoned and alone. She would not have been able to survive long on her own if she had not been discovered, because she is paralyzed. She has many of the characteristics of a puppy mill breeding dog. Her toes are splayed, probably from spending her life in a wire cage. She was full of worms, suffered from giardia and was emaciated. Our best guess is that she was used for breeding until she became paralyzed – and then she was, quite literally, tossed aside. It’s heartbreaking to know that someone could dump this baby in a ditch and drive away – leaving her there alone – weak, struggling to move, scared and vulnerable.

The Village and its supporters were able to get Lacy fixed up and in her very own cart. She has been spayed and has gained much needed weight. She is a sweetheart, who gets around beautifully in her new wheels, which is great as she has full back end paralysis. She is a happy girl, who loves to chew on her toys and has no clue that her rear legs do not function like most other dogs.

She loves her walk about the yard and get along well with her canine roommates. Lacy would do best in a home where someone is home most of the day as she should not be left unattended in her cart and is unable to get around well without it. She is a snuggler, who loves her walks around the yard while grabbing some rays.

If you think this sweet girl would make a great addition to your family, please check out our adoption process page, and then submit an application online by clicking the “Apply” button below. Lacy is available for adoption out of state, however be prepared to travel to this cuties home state of Virginia as she will not be shipped.
