Albin has a bite history.
Albin is a lovable Frenchie pup that has now made it to the available page. At the tender age of one, Albin was surrendered as a result of a divorce that left the owners unable to keep him due to new living situations. Now, Albin is looking for an active forever home with no children or cats. Albin needs an experienced owner to help him continue his obedience training. He plans to reward you with infinite amounts of joy and love if you oblige!
Albin’s former owner said he was showed food, toy, and dog aggression. His former owner stated that Albin bit her when she tried to take a toy away from him while he was playing tog-of-war with another dog. His foster mom reports that Albin has not exhibited such behavior when she plays with him, however, he is the only dog in his foster home and his play behavior may be different if another dog is involved. In his foster home, Albin was initially not friendly to a relative’s 5-year-old terrier mix that frequently visits, but has warmed up following the proper slow introductions method that FBRN encourages. If living with another dog, it is recommended that they be fed separately. Albin will also do the infamous Frenchie howl and acts somewhat aggressive when he sees another dog while out on a walk, so his future owner should be mindful of keeping up with Albin’s leash manners.
Albin is an active puppy and will play by himself, throwing and chasing his chew toys and stuffies. He loves playing fetch with you as well. Albin is a fan of car rides, walks, play time, and snuggling. His foster mom observed that, being the playful pup that he is, Albin does not know when to stop playing and will actually nip at and jump on you when he wants you to play with him. He has not caused any injuries and has been working on this in his foster home, but his future owner will need to keep up his behavioral training to continue Albin’s transformation into a gentleman. We like to say, "Everything by invitation, nothing by demand." This is puppy behavior, but it can become difficult to change if Albin gets accustomed to getting his own way; we'll look for applications that mention prior experience with headstrong dogs.
Albin is housebroken, but he has had a few infrequent accidents. He is crate-trained. He is dominant and active, but laid back after vigorous exercise. An everyday ramble would be good for him. Therefore, a house with a secure, fenced backyard would be best to run and play so he can get his puppy energy out, and a home where owners are willing to walk him every day would be better still! Albin would not currently do well if living in a city, as he frequently reacts to other dogs when out on a leashed walk. Another other canine siblings should be submissive but playful. If placed with another dog, slow introductions are absolutely mandatory. If you have another resident dog in your home, please discuss in your application how you plan to integrate Albin into your household. Because of his nipping when excited, and his bite history, we won't place Albin in a home with children.
Albin would love if his forever owners worked from home, but has done well in his foster home being crated when his owners are out of the house. He would need a mid-day potty break if you aren’t home during the day. In the future, he may be able to accompany his owner to the office if his behavior improves with training.
