Hello, can anyone here recommend a canine cookbook? I would like to prepare healthy cooked meals and treats for my future frenchie. I saw a few books on amazon that looked good - but thought I would check here. I am not interested in doing raw, but would like to prepare and cook healthy foods, also feed occasional kibble.

Thank you!

I have tried a couple of cookbooks and was disappointed in the ingredients in the recipes. Mine both have allergies so I like to feed grain free and keep the carbs on the lower side. I like The Honest Kitchen pre-mix which is dehydrated. You simply add water and your choice of protein (raw or cooked) I like to alternate protein every 3 months or so. I have also used Sojos base mix which is the same concept. I make about 10 days worth at a time and then freeze. You can also look into Complete Canine Nutrition Course which is online. You will learn about all of the nutrients dog's need and why. If you are going to cook from scratch you need to add supplements. I did the course, purchased the recommended supplements and it is sitting in a cabinet. It's a lot of work and I just don't have the time now so am sticking with the convenience of dehydrated for the time being. Not sure if you are getting an older dog or a puppy, but if you are getting a puppy Sojos makes a freeze dried Turkey and Salmon formula for puppies. Good luck and can't wait to see pictures of your new nugget.

I don't homecook but like Jakeyjake said, if you do you need to make sure they are getting all of the needed nutrients. You can probably find a lot of information online and recipes.
