Devlin, or “Roo” as his foster mom calls him, is one of the sweetest pups one will ever meet. His foster mom calls him Roo because he reminds her of a kangaroo. Devlin loves to cuddle up in people’s laps and be carried around in a dog carrier by his foster mom. Devlin is approximately 7 and a 1/2 months old and weighs 17 lbs. He was surrendered to the Village due to a fractured elbow from what was likely a puppy mill.
He is doing really well after having surgery for his fractured elbow. However, he still has a little limp and may always have one. He also may develop arthritis in his elbow as he matures. Devlin still has a pin and screw in his elbow that may eventually need to be removed if they start to cause any complications, but at this time, he is doing very well and the fracture has healed.
Devlin is your typical puppy. He loves to wrestle with his foster Frenchie sister. He also loves Nylabones (and will chew on them for hours at night), toys, and to play fetch with his ball. He is a snuggler when he finally settles down and loves to snuggle under the covers. He is great in the car, walks well on a leash, and loves to follow his person everywhere. He also behaves well in public. He only barks when he is playing. He hasn’t had any official obedience training yet but his foster mom thinks he would do really well in a beginner class.
He is about 90% housebroken as long as he stays on a schedule. He was supposedly used to going to the bathroom in a cage so it has taken awhile for him to learn that he needs to go outside to pee and poop instead of going in the house. Devlin definitely thrives on keeping to a schedule. He can be stubborn at times so his forever home will need to be patient and consistent with him. He doesn’t have to have a fenced yard but it would be better because he prefers to potty off leash.

Devlin is such an amazing little guy. He has never met a stranger and gets along with all people and dogs. He currently resides with two Frenchie foster siblings and would really love a forever home with a doggie sibling to play with and put up with his puppy antics. Devlin would do better in a home with older children. There is the possibility, since he is a puppy, that he could get into younger children’s small toys. Also, because he had elbow surgery, care must be taken to ensure that he does not reinjure his elbow.

Devlin does not require someone to be home with him all day. He is used to going to work with his foster mom during the day and stays in his crate until he gets a lunch break with her. Even though he is crated, he is used to people being around him throughout the day. His foster mom does not think he would do well alone all day. If he had a sibling to keep him company or someone who works from home, could take him to work, or could come home for a lunch break, that would be best.
He has adjusted very well to his new home life. Even though he had a painful start as a puppy with several surgeries for his elbow, he still loves everyone and has a great personality. He is very social and loves people and other dogs. He is a very affectionate and sweet boy. One can’t help but fall in love with him upon meeting him!
