Max is an extremely handsome and sweet 5-year-old French Bulldog. He loves people soooo very much and has been having a blast in his foster home! He’s pretty healthy and loves going for long walks. He is very energetic, so regular exercise is super important for this guy. He’s well behaved in the car and is a super fun guy to have around. Max gets along with other dogs, but he has some criteria for his housemates. He enjoys the company of dogs that are the same size or smaller than he is and either female or neutered male. He just doesn’t like intact males or dogs that are bigger than he is and isn’t happy to be around them at all. He is still learning his manners, so it would be best for any other dogs in the home to be tolerant of his pushiness. Max loves to chase kitties! So a home without cats would be best for him.

Max came to rescue because his family moved to a much smaller home and felt bad that he didn’t have the room to play that he was used to. It is also important to know that Max has juvenile cataracts. This is a genetic condition and there was nothing anyone could have done to prevent it. Because of this condition, Max has lost 80-90% of his vision. He can still see a little bit around the edges, but that’s it. He will eventually lose his sight completely, but he’s adapting very well to the situation. Once he figures out the lay of the house, he hardly ever bumps into anything! Max will require prescription eye drops for the rest of his life to prevent his developing glaucoma. Glaucoma is very painful and if he develops it, he will have a have his eye(s) removed.

Max adores his crate! He likes to sleep and eat in his crate because it makes him feel safe. He can get a bit protective of his crate and when other dogs approach it, he tends to get a protective of his space. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, he just wants everyone to know that it is his spot! Max is still learning his manners, and would benefit from positive training and lots of patience. He’s house trained, but if he has to wait too long, he sometimes goes potty inside. He doesn’t mean to, he tries really hard!
