I have heard if it and also read many articles similar to this one you've posted. The problem you may find is actually finding a vet who does the ovary sparing procedure who has a lot of experience doing it.

Pyrometra is in my opinion one of the greatest risks of not spaying, but in return you may have other problems such as urinary incontinence. But if the ovaries are kept in tact then the hormones should reduce the chances of developing other issues. I do hope that in the near future more vets will start doing this procedure.
