Oskar is 6 months old and has elevated ALT.

At 3 months he had a few UTIā€™s, and the vet did a kidney test and happened to run liver too and we found it that way. It was in the 500 range. He eats raw Primal. Took him in to be neutered and they ran his blood and it was in the 700 range!

So we took him to a specialist and she did an ultrasound and bile, everything looked good. Still tested high.
So we did a biopsy during his neuter (our normal vet didnā€™t do it the day due to the test) and just got all the results back and nothing found.

Heā€™s healthy, playful, growing. No one can figure it out. Something is obviously wrong if there are this many of us with the same problem.

Sorry to hear, start him on Denmarin or milk thistle by itself- that's what most of the bulldogs get when they don't know what's wrong, and it seems to help.

Heā€™s been on Denmarin for 2 months. She wants me to switch foods, so Iā€™m starting research.

Hi!
Did anyone have luck in finding answers? My 6 month old Frenchie, Luca, had a blood test when I was afraid he swallowed a rawhide whole about two months ago with ALT around 500 (can no longer get rawhides because he does like to swallow them whole:bad: ). Since then, he has been on Denamarin and we have tested him a few times- 480,400. He has been on Wellness Core Puppy since 8 weeks. The vet wanted me to switch to Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat, which I reluctantly did after reading some not-so-great reviews but wanted to listen to her. He goes in on Tuesday for a recheck, but if it is not better she has suggested a liver biopsy. Any insight to this situation which seems to be common in frenchies?

My two year old Frenchie Honey has the same issue and we are holding off on her spaying due to the risk.
Her levels have also read over 800 multiple times and once were down a bit.

We are trying milk thistle currently and changing her diet from raw to cooked beef to see if there are any changes.
I will let you know if anything helps.

Hi, I am having the same problem with my 14 month old French bulldog. I have take her twice now to be spayed and her ALT has been high this last one was 998.0 so vet would not spay her, referred me to specialist for ultrasound and biopsy. I donā€™t know what to do! The cost is so high for all these procedures to find out whatā€™s wrong! She doesnā€™t act sick sheā€™s normal plays, runs with my boxer everything! Have you got any answers on yours?

Hi all,

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer! I'm looking forward to the cooler temperatures so little Maximus could play outside more.

I've been MIA since Maximus went to the ER in June and we found out his ALT was elevated (up to 800!). He had the biles acid test done as well as an ultrasound that came out pretty normal. We took him off his raw diet and started home cooking. We are checking periodically his ALT levels and they still remain high so I finally caved and Maximus is now on a course of antibiotics.

I was wondering if anyone else went through this - elevated liver enzyme in asymptomatic dog. We are holding off on the neuter surgery and trying to find out what is actually causing his enzymes to elevate. So stressed...

I am actually going thru this right now, Finns levels are 900 he's going in for an ultra sound I'm extremely worried he's lost 5 lbs. Also
