Stevie is a very cool, happy Frog boy and distinguishes himself quickly from other Frenchies by the sheer size and floppiness of his ears. He is a youngster – approximately 11 months and is a very versatile, go with the flow boy. You want to walk? He is all in and does very well on a leash. You want to watch the complete Season 2 of your favorite show? He thinks that is a fantastic idea as long as he can use you as his personal chaise lounge. People coming to visit? After his initial glee over getting more human attention he settles down, finds his foster mom and sits on her lap.
He lives with a Bossypants 2 year old female Frenchie who is showing him the ropes. Under her tutelage, Stevie is excelling at the fine art of mouth wrestling. He is working on understanding that no dog in the house gets anything that the others do not get. Stevie is currently being fed separately while we are working on his ‘sharing’ issues – this will need to continue in his new home but I suspect he will catch on soon. The boy loves, loves, loves to eat which makes him extremely receptive to correction and training. He would prefer a home that has a garden and a fondness for heirloom tomatoes as he is a thief. Many times you can see him stealthily nibbling on a tomato, while sticking out of the garden bed.
He is almost completely potty trained. He is a Velcro Frog and sometimes his desire to keep his mom within eyesight overcomes his grasp of basic social niceties. However, when kept to a schedule (first thing in the morning, after eating, evening walk) he is completely accident free. Stevie is making great progress understanding that if he chooses to go hang with the resident female on the patio, the humans don’t disappear.
Stevie will do best in a home where he will get tons of human attention. Not in a needy manner, but as a companion or a buddy. He will thrive in a setting where he is looked at as a family member. He gets along wonderfully with children however due to his size (currently 28#) and puppy mannerisms should be in a house with older kiddos that won’t get knocked about too much. A fenced yard would be fantastic, but he doesn’t stray too far from his humans. He has been tested with large and small female dogs and has done fine with ‘calm but stern’ canine rulers. He has also done well with male Frenchies after getting the lay of the land.
All in all, Stevie is a wonderful pup and looks at everything as an adventure. He will valiantly protect you from vacuums, Swiffers, funny phone ringtones and doorbells. Obedience classes with his forever people would be a great bonding experience as all he wants is for you to love him and spare some treats. Truly, this boy will be a fantastic companion that will make his forever family laugh and smile with his antics.
