Hello all!

I am currently the owner of a 1.5 year old frenchie, he is the happiest, kindest guy around. He LOVES to play and is extremely social. We are considering adding another addition to the family.. as exciting as this is, I have my reservations about having two potentially high maintenance dogs. Can anyone speak to their experience of adding a second 4-legged pal to the family?

Appreciate it!

I had a female Frenchie, and got a female English bulldog, both were in adult life stage. Initially they got along but over time they started to fight a lot, and eventually I had to rehome the English bulldog. I would recommend you get a second dog of opposite sex to have a better chance they will get along.

I added a bulldog puppy in May 2017 when Jax was 4. Both are males. It took Jax just a little over 3 weeks before he would even let Louie sit next to him. While they are not best friends, they get along and play when Jax wants to play. If Louie annoys Jax, Jax will let him know. I haven’t had any serious fights between them.

Having two dogs really isn’t that much extra work as you’re already doing everything for the first one.

If you have the time, money and energy...I say go for it!

Years ago we had a female Doberman.

Turns out she was a just a big old lap dog and was always "right on top of us".

We decided we "needed" another dog; a companion for her and some space for us.

Bought another female and they got along great.

However, we ended up with two lap dogs vying for space alongside us.

Fast forward a number of years and we now had a female, brindle English Bull Terrier. She was quite happy and all was well.

For some reason, I decided to get another Bull Terrier; a white male.

The dogs got along fairly well, but I think Elizabeth (the female bully) would have preferred being an only dog.

She seemed to tolerate him more than enjoy him.

In hindsight, I wish I didn't push for the second dog.

Now we have Loki.

We have never had a dog so into being with us; and we love that about him.

Lots of mornings are spent snuggling in bed.

We have decided not to get a second dog; things seems just right with only him.

Obviously, many people own two or more Frenchies; and are very happy with that.

Guess it comes down to whether you want to give it a go adding another.

We have always had two... female/male without regret or issues

We now have two males Bulldog and a Frenchie... they do well together and is no more work than having one.

Hello all, I am new to this forum but not new to the bully breed as I am a parent of a 9yr English Bulldog. My husband and I have decided to add 2 Frenchies to our family and have picked two female siblings. wondering if anyone have siblings of the same sex and how do they get along?

We have always had multiple dogs and this is the first time in a long time that Tank has been an only dog (our dane had aggressive cancer and had to be put down early this year). Personally if you have one dog...maintenance wise you might as well have two. LOL Feeding, grooming, all those things only take a little bit of extra time if you are already doing it for one dog.

I would maybe consider a rescue. If you tell them the personality of the Frenchie you already have, they might be able to recommend a perfect match and your dogs could meet before you commit. Good luck! :)
