Hudson had a bump show up by his eye yesterday. It looks the same today. We were out of town for a day before yesterday so not sure if it had been there for a day or so before and the pet sitter didn't notice. It's raised, firm feeling, and it doesn't bother him when I touch it. I can't see a head on it. Does anyone have any ideas? Planning a vet visit ASAP but want to know if anyone has any ideas.

Also, what looks like the bald spot above his eye in this photo looks normal in person. Only "off" thing is the bump.

Not sure what that could be from.... let us know how the vet visit goes.

I agree to take him to the vet straight away with anything eye related. Good luck and keep us posted.

I had a vet student look at it (I go to UC Davis so my neighbors are all pre vet lol) and she said she thinks wart or stye. He's going to the actual vet at 4 so I'll update when we know what they think!

That's what my first guess was. I had a black pug who would get these on his eyelids all the time. They went away on their own.

Okay, back from the vet. I basically got no information. She said it doesn't look "angry" enough to be caused by an injury from playing with the dog sitter's pug. Probably not a stye since it's not on the waterline or eyelid. Might be an insect bite, might be mast cell, might be nothing. She gave us some antibiotic cream and said to try that for five days. If that doesn't work she recommends having it biopsied when he gets neutered since they can't do it when he's awake because of where it is. I don't feel very reassured!!

Ugh! When is neuter?

Ugh! When is neuter?

It hasn't been scheduled yet, so I guess sooner than we anticipated.

I did just call my boss who is the head of cytology at UC Davis vet school and she said her and her husband will take a tiny needle and poke it (I think she called it aspirating?) and tell me what it is for sure so I won't have to worry. So looks like we will be getting an answer without an expensive, complicated biopsy. And Hudson loves them so he'll be more comfortable with them doing it and won't have to be put under.

She had me send her photos and named off a bunch of things but she doesn't think it's going to turn into a big deal.

GREAT!!!!

I thought she was in neurology (I'm their nanny so I know nothing about the vet school stuff). Doh!!! Should've started with her since I can text her photos and get better answers and they can help me out with stuff at home.

Im the same way (actually I think most of us are). We see something out of the ordinary on our babies and immediately worry sick. But in the end it turns out to be absolutely harmless. I bet it will be gone soon :) Fingers crossed & give that squishy face a kiss :)

That's great that you have so many vet/pre-vet people around that you trust. I'm sure it's nothing but let us know for sure once you find out.

That's good they can just aspirate it and then look at the cells. Good luck and keep us posted what you find out.

Looks like it could be an insect bite of some sort, hopefully it will go away soon.

Luckily for Hudson we have my boyfriend who is the voice of reason because I absolutely lose my mind anytime there's anything wrong with him [emoji23].

I've been having a lot of health issues lately (I have a generic syndrome that gets worse periodically) and my doctor told me that the best thing I could've done is get a dog!! H just lays with me on bad days and snuggles and we go on short little walks so my joints don't seize up. He is the best decision I ever made!

The vet mentioned insect bite but we didn't think so because when he gets stung by bees they go away pretty quickly. Now I'm not so sure because it looks way better today! I think a weird bug might've bitten him. He tries to play with all bugs so it wouldn't surprise me.
