I have a male, neutered frenchie who is over a year old and only 15lbs. I feel like he is way underweight, although the vet says he seems perfectly healthy.
He did have a major surgery at 7 months old. (Long story short, he tore apart and ate a coaster made of cork and had to get it scraped out of his small bowel. It was horrifying but he survived. This crazy dog is his own worst enemy!!!) He recovered well, but post-surgery has a much more sensitive stomach and can only eat very few (soft/wet) foods without getting sick. I'm wondering if any of that affected his ability to digest or properly metabolize his food. I have no idea, I just feel like he's so tiny! What size are most male frenchies at this age? Am I being too paranoid that something is wrong with him?
Here are a few pics:

Poor baby...but I'm glad he survived and all is well! He sure is a cutie pie.

15 pounds does seem quite small for an adult male but he doesn't look malnourished in these photos. Can you get a side shot of him standing up and maybe a photo from above. Can you see/feel his ribs? What are you currently feeding him and how much per day?

My guy will be 5 in April and he weighs about 30 pounds. He's usually maintained for the past few years between 28-30 pounds.

Gaston looks good; and healthy.

Any idea about the size of his parents?

Here's a picture of him from the side (the tube of mascara is in the pic because we had just plucked it from his mouth -- he is a dog who loves chewing on non-food items!)

He doesn't seem malnourished; I can kind of feel his ribs, but they're not visible at all. He doesn't feel super skinny, but he has such a petite build. I'm currently feeding him a limited ingredient wet food (whitefish and potato) mixed with some canned pumpkin, per the instructions of our vet since he has such a sensitive stomach. He has about a half can of wet food per day with a big scoop of the pumpkin mixed in each serving. If we offer him dry food or really anything other than what he's eating currently, he'll either a) totally ignore it or b) hesitate, then very slowly eat it... only to vomit it all up a few hours later. The diet he's on now is the only thing he'll actually eat and keep down.

From what I know his parents were average size, but he was the runt of the litter and was only about 3.5lbs when I got him at 12 weeks old, so he's always been on the small side

Yikes! He needs to stop eating non food stuff! So glad he survived and all is OK. I would guess his health issues are the reason he's smaller, sensitive stomach and all. Frenchies do come in all shapes and sizes though. Wally is pretty big, 30lbs and has been since he was 1 years old.

His weight looks good for his size to me. Such a cutie!

He does seem to look fine for his size and being the runt, he’s probably just on the smaller side.

blushy has a baby that went through heck in a hand basket due to giardia and she has to be careful of his food, but he is healthy, happy and normal boy

He's so cute! He looks so little!

Lily is turning a year on April 10. She is 28 pounds right now but should lose a couple of pounds. Her mom was pretty chunky.
