Sorry for the gross topic but...(be glad I didn't take and post a pic! Hahahaha)

I changed Daphne's frozen raw protein to lamb a couple days ago. It isn't the first time she's had it, we tried it for the first time probably two months ago. This time though, her poop is really different than when she is on her regular duck formula. On duck she will go twice per day and the amount is small and very very firm. This week she has still gone only twice per day but the amount is way more and really soft-servy. I have about half a bag of patties left that I want to use. She isn't any more itchy than usual. No hives, no goopy eyes or stinky ears, so I am assuming she isn't experiencing an intolerance to lamb. Like I said, we tried lamb previously and I didn't notice the change in her poo. Any thoughts?

Daph isn't acting lethargic; she is her normal sassy, rambunctious self. Her appetite is great. Should I NOT use the remainder of the bag and put her back on duck?

Soft serve could be too much food or it is not agreeing with her

Either lessen amount and see if her poo improves or go back to duck

Ok, thanks much. I'll try decreasing a little but if no change, it's back to duck we go...

Do you feed 100% raw? Is there anything you supplement with other than the patties? What are in the patties? Ideally raw fed dogs should eat at least 3 different proteins without any issue.

Sometimes dogs poos are really soft when they get a new food. I don't think it would hurt to keep giving it in smaller amounts as suggested and see if it firms up after a week. You can also try giving her a couple teaspoons of canned pumpkin to firm it up, since the pumpkin works well to both firm up soft poos and soften hard poos.

I would think that it's just the transition. Can you do half lamb half duck for a few days?

Hello,
She eats Primal frozen raw patties with one crushed up dehydrated raw nugget and goat's milk a each feeding. Twice per day. I don't supplement with anything else because there are oils and kelp, and fruits and veggies in this formula (both duck and lamb).
Honeys Owners I am about to try the pumpkin - thanks!

I'm out of duck and bought lamb this month because the duck price went up so much but will go back and buy it if this continues. Thnaks!

Interesting, it could be that she's sensitive to different types of proteins. Do let us know if she improves soon :)

Her poop is harder now. Guess I was being impatient, but I didn't remember it being like this the first time we tried Lamb. All good though now. Thanks for checking in!
