Lila is my first puppy (5 months old) and I'm worried she's not going to outgrow her biting. I understand mouthing but she bites hard and we've tried all the suggested techniques of yelping, timeouts, etc. but no improvement. Sometimes scolding her makes her bite harder and become more aggressive. She especially goes for feet. We continue to do the suggested techniques but is there hope this will go away?

She will eventually stop the biting, just keep telling her NO, and if you have too, firmly grab her by the side of the face when she bites and tell her NO BITE. If she still does it, put her in her crate for a time out with a chew toy.

If you haven't tried this yet I would suggest redirecting with her favorite chew or toy, whatever it is that she goes crazy for. It doesn't work for all pups but it worked great for us. When he started to bite at all I would say "No Bite!" loudly and then literally stuff something else into his mouth, I didn't wait for him to choose the other item, I just stuffed it right in there. this worked pretty quickly for us, he occasionally still gets a little rough but not nearly as hard or as often as before and he is really improving.

I agree that they eventually grow out of it. Nellie was the worst! And i didn't think there was an end to it. She still does this a bit especially in very excited play sessions and when she's bored she is chewing on stuff. But NO always stops her and she moves on.

Thank you, we will keep using those techniques and hope she will get it eventually!

Good advice from the gang..... good luck and stay consistent

We did exactly the same. The puppy stopped biting after 2 weeks. We also would say YES when he start chewing on his toy and praise him a lot.
