Bored with kibble. Help please!

Well most importantly she needs to drink as she loosing lots of fluids. Is she drinking? I think a call to the vet a good idea. Just as she still has the bad tummy and sickness. The blood might be from going so much s little tear maybe. But especially as she a baby vets best and u will have peace of mind! Hope she feels better soon ! X

Yes we just came back from the vet. I decided to take her in because she was vomiting and regurgitating. He just gave us an anti nausea shot and some meds. As for the food, he is warming up to to me getting her on a raw diet. He said however to hold off until her stomach issues are resolved. For now she is on vet prescribed wet diet for puppies. I will keep you all posted.

Oh bless her at least she all checked now. Hopefully good nights sleep and she be back to puppy self!

My poor baby is still suffering! She still has the diarrhea and still not eating. It's like she's lost all the weight she's gained in the last month if only I can get her to eat something. I was given a can of ID wet food for her and told to crush her pills and mix it in there. But she's not even eating it so she's not getting the meds.

Oh dear. I hope she is drinking and weeing ok ?
Did the vet say how long before you see improvement? Shame they gave you tablets rather than liquid medicine. Would she eat the tablets in a small piece of chicken?
Its like having a baby when they are poorly :(

She's drinking a bit but not much. i was going to get her some pedialyte to help. HE didn't really say how long she'll take to recover. He said finish the dose of meds. I will buy her some chicken today and see if she'll eat that instead. It is really like having a baby. am so worried.

If she's not eating don't bother crushing her meds in there. I buy turkey breast lunch meat and wrap pills in a small piece of that, especially if it's important.

I really don't think a prescription diet is going to help her, so it's really up to you to decide on that... But even when my dog was losing weight from how sick he was my vet NEVER suggested a different diet beyond advising I keep him on chicken since everything else is too rich.

I hope your poor baby feels better!

I think u will stand a much higher chance of her eating chicken/turkey than dog food. As said above its important to get those pills into her! At least she is taking in some fluid and resting! keep us updated :)

I agree with you all! I will get her some chicken/turkey to get her to take the pills. The sitter is going in to see her in a bit. i'll ask her to do that. I'll keep you posted.

Just an update on nellie. She is doing really well and looks like the meds are working and she is bouncing back from the diarrhea. This morning she had what looked to be a normal poo. When i got home last night she was so excited to see me and practically bouncing off the walls. i have never see her like that before. getting her to take the pills was a bit challenging and she hadn't eaten the prescribed wet food either. So i took matters into my own hands and decided to make her something bland and put her meds in it. So i got some lean ground turkey, boiled it and then added a table spoon of pumpkin. She devoured it in under a minute and then looked up at me for more. I know i shouldn't so this but i gave her two more servings and she ate it all. my poor baby was starving! I will not continue to feed her the crappy kibble and vet prescribed can food. I am going to try the raw diet. I'll have her on the bland for the next few days and then transition her to the raw. you should see her this morning when i was preparing her breakfast. she was almost jumping out of her skin. The last two weeks she's barely cared when i put her food bowl down. She is so behind in the weight scales that im not worried about over feeding her right now. I'll let you all know how the raw diet goes. Heres to hoping she doesn't react poorly to that. oh the joys of puppy-parenthood.

Oh bless her that's great news. She just needed those tablets and getting some food into her tummy probably helped settle it !
Im so pleased for you as you have been through so much with her ....
Buddy is on raw and has been for 3 weeks now and his tummy is so much better, I don't know about Nellie but he had awful wind and diarrhea quite often. None of that now ! :) I am so relieved !
Nellie is just gorgeous I would love to see some more pics of her :)

Hi,

I hope the raw works for Nellie. If it doesn't, you can always try home-cooking. I mix mine together with the kibble so that it is mixed in and not just a 'topper'. All of ours get 1/2 cup kibble and 1/2 home-cooked for dinner. For breakfast they get 1/4 cup kibble. However, they are not picky eaters.... If you want to try it you can PM me for recipe.

Hi Nellie has been on the raw diet for three weeks now and is loving it! She licks her bowl clean and still stares up at me for more. She is on Big Country Raw turkey dinner. Its canadian brand. I add salmon oil and fortiflora probiotics to her meal. Her stools are much firmer and she hasn't been picky at all
