Broken nail?

My little buddy is going through quite the little rough patch lately! Finally got him on the honest kitchen zeal formula and he has been thriving! Took him to the vet recently to get a growth checked out on his paw (not serious and will go away on its own hopefully) and now his nail has been injured. I noticed a few days ago, he wouldn’t let me near it but was still walking normally, with favouring his leg slightly here and there. I soaked his paw in a sea salt bath and have kept him pretty calm for the past two days and it seemed to be doing much better! Fast forward to today and he was rough housing with my dad and he must have caught his poor nail on the couch. He’s still walking fine but I have no experience in this at all and was wondering if there is something I can do for him at home to heal it? Or does it need vet attention? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Ouch!! Poor fella.... no vet attention needed- if you have clippers just take of what is loose. But watch the quick, if you clip that he will bleed and it can really hurt

That happened to Carrot. I took her to the vet, and they cut it down, applied some medication and had me keep her paw wrapped for four days. IT was her dew claw though. But, I'm not sure I would have wanted to cut it down myself!
