Butt scooting

Every time Bitty starts that we wash her female privates with a warm water wash cloth. That solves the issue with her. (No soap)

I assume you've checked the anal glands, yeah? Because sometimes if they're not expressing correctly your dog will scoot to empty them.

Do you have any issues with yeast? If so, you might be looking at the start of vaginitis. We're actually dealing with this right now. Beezy sits on her butt and hops around in a circle as she tries to scratch her itchy hoo-haw. It got bad enough that she has a sore spot worn that we're now treating.

If you've got some Malacetic wipes or even unscented baby wipes, you can wipe her down after every pee trip. If it's inflamed at all, you can use some hydrocortisone around the area to keep the itching down. I've been using Neosporin to treat our sore spot and it's cleared up in just a couple of days. If she's particularly damp or sweaty down there, you can use some cornstarch baby powder after cleaning the area to dry it out.

So this morning I turned her over to get a good inspection and to clean her whole bottom half and found some red, irritation on the hood of her vulva. I think that is causing the problem. I only had time to clean it well and dry it off this morning but tonight I will clean it again, dry it and put some neosporine on it. It was very irritated so I'm certain that is why she was scooting. It probably inched like crazy. I haven't cleaned that area in a while and it that's probably what caused the problem. I'll have to be more diligent.

Poor Daisy. We feel your pain. Literally. I read somewhere that pottying on tall, damp grass can aggravate it, especially if the dog is already sensitive to grass. Good news is that it heals pretty quickly, or at least seems to. Beezy has been scooting for weeks but I only noticed the sore this weekend. Neosporin, hydrocortisone, and medicated wipes twice a day since Saturday and I didn't really see anything this morning.

I'd never really paid that much attention to that area, either. But, like you, I'll probably start doing a preemptive wiping every day. She hates it now but will thank me in the long run. At least, that's what I tell myself.

I would first guess anal glands, so start there, but could also be girly parts irritated, or worms.
