Can I re-train the ear to stand up?

My 6 month old Frenchie was bitten by several ticks and ended up with an allergic reaction which affected his ear. It's now completely down!! After steroids it still has not come up. The vet said the cartilage was probably seriously affected. Can I retrain the ear to stand up again or will it be permanently floppy?

My dog has one ear up and one ear down, caused by an attack from another dog. Since my dog is already 5 years old it's too late to retrain, but I don't see why you can't try taping the ear, since your dog is still a pup. I'm no expert on this however. I use Advantix II liquid on my dog monthly to PREVENT ticks from biting, since some of the other products just kill them after they've latched on.

If the cartilage was damaged, I doubt it will stand up again. I don't like taping a Frenchies ears, as it can be painful to them.
