Bingo! I'll post pictures when I am done. I have gutted it, and sanded it down. Now I have to paint it, make the bed, and hang some pictures or something on the inside wall.

That's awesome!!! It's a project that's been on my Pinterest crafting board forever, but I've never known someone to actually do it. I'm so excited to see! Your baby-to-be is one lucky girl

It's been on my pinterest board for a long time too. I finally decided to do it. I have a friend that volunteers at the local hospice thrift store. I asked her to keep an eye out for one and the next day when she went in, she texted me that they had one and she would sell it to me for $10, so score! I ran right over to get it.

I would love to do it some crazy colors or something with bright pink for the princess but with it being in my den I want it to match somewhat and not be too "flashy". I hope I like what I've come up with for colors.

Its almost like a doggie "room". The bed is inside where the tv part used to be.

I am going with a dark teal, and a dark wood look for the top. I'm not sure about the inside yet, but probably just something like an off white. It needs to be light, not too dark. Anyone have any ideas? My living room has chocolate, teal, and kind of a green.

I'm still voting for something like faux-fur pink effect color inside, maybe even just for one wall and rest off-white

I love that idea but that won't match the color of the outside at all. Part of me still wants to do the whole thing in a bright "I'm a princess" look but I really want it to go with the rest of the living room. I'm so bad at making these decions. I can't commit to colors at all.

I can totally feel your pain...I'm kinda interior decoration enthusiast myself

Twiggy has such a beautiful cream colour fur, so maybe the off-white would go well colourwise....with a small pink princess pillow inside

(sorry for being such a pain in the butt with all my pinks :ashamed: )

I'd do chocolate/mocha top, teal on the outer walls, and white inside.

Hang a "princess" picture in her "room"

Or get wooden letters of her name or "Princess Twiggy" and paint them teal and pink and either left over chocolate/brown or grey would look nice & wood glue them to the back wall

that would match, give a pop of pink, and she wouldn't be able to knock them off

I was thinking along those lines. I have teal for the outside (already painted one coat), I ordered this dark gel stain for the top that you are supposed to be able to use over anything to make it look like a dark wood, and I was thinking white for the inside. I can't decide if I want all the inside walls white or just the back one. I don't want too much white. I am definitely hanging some cool things inside, and I will have some cute pillows on the bed inside too. I was thinking about hanging her family portrait in there with a cute frame. I have a picture of her with her parents when she was maybe a few months old.The front part where that ugly orange/brown stuff is in the picture covering the speaker is gone and I am going to try to find some fabric OR decorative scrapbook or cardstock to put in there. I would LOVE a little chandelier for the inside. I saw some in some beds made like this but I don't know where I would get something like that. I may try to make something by adding hanging stuff to a tap light? I' don't know. I'm going over various ideas about that in my head. The cat keeps going to the garage with me and "helping" me work on it. I have a feeling the cats are going to think it's theirs LOL.

My dark gel stain for the top came while we were on vacation. I'm going to start on that today. I also ordered a high density upholstery foam to fit inside so it will have lots of support. Now I need to paint the top, sew a bed cover for the foam, and "decorate" the inside. I can't wait to show everyone when it's done!

I'm done with the painting unless I decide to put another coat on the inside back, and that is like a 2 minute job. The upholstery foam came in the mail but I haven't gotten to sewing the cover yet. Funny thing unrelated to the bed..my silly teenage daughter said "what is that?" and I said "upholstery foam". She says "a poultry foam? why do chickens need foam?". *Rolls eyes*. Anyway I've been working a lot so I haven't had time to finish it but it will be done before she gets here.
