Poor Stella is having such a tough time with allergies that our vet has recommended we place her on cyclosporine. We started allergy shots but he feels she will not respond well because she is so bad. She has had staph infections from the scratching and been on antibiotics, but they are not working at this point either. So he is doing a scraping and culture to determine a better antibiotic for her. Does anyone have experience with Cyclosporine? I am concerned about long term use but feel our hands our tied at this point and don't know a better option for Stella. She is miserable. She has had her first two doses along with Pepcid AC and so far just a little loose stool. I have read side effects can be awful, so just a little concerned and would love to hear anyone else's experience with this drug.

Jax started allergy shots in April and he is also on Apoquel for itching. Has Stella seen a dermatologist? I think a vet specializing in skin and allergies is more knowledgeable about this type of thing over a general vet.

What food do you have Stella on??? Most skin allergies are caused by food. I'm not sure I would want my Frenchie on Cyclosporine because it switches off the body's immune system. I would try a different food protein and see how that does. If that doesn't work, then I would take her to a dermatologist.

Jax has those same allergies and is on Apoquel and allergy shots. Have you taken her to a dermatologist?

I am taking Stella to a dermatologist tomorrow. Stella is too young for Apoquel (8 mos.) unfortunately. I really would love to provide Stella with some relief. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for some help for her:pray:
