I was wondering how can i take Dave for a day out? As he can't do much walking i can hardly walk him around for a full afternoon, so how do you get around this... a dog stroller ?

Look up outward Hound front packs. I have the one with no leg holes and lulu loves it!

a stroller would work pretty well and still keep them somewhat cool, if it had a top.

Wow Karla thats great! But Dave weighs just over a stone, he would break my back lol

Yes David most of them have tops, i just wondered what everyone else does as i've never seen 'normal' people use them.

Quella has a Pet Gear Jogging stroller. I got it with a crazy discount because it was a display model that spent a few months outside, so the sage green was overly faded. I brought Quella out for coffee and walks before she was vaccinated and she loved it. Unfortunately 2 weeks in, the front tire broke off and it's been an uphill battle to get a replacement from the store I brought it from. It looks like 2 weeks out, which I'm grateful for because I already have a list out outdoor restaurants and festival/art faires I can take her too. I didn't get the stroller as a replacement to her walking, but more of an added bonus when she gets a lil winded or tired. I have a battery powered fan and a drink/goodie holder because the one on the stroller doesn't meet my needs.

Below is (terrible) picture of me putting Q in for different intervals to see how she would do.

I have to share this with you guys... A new place opened up recently quite close to where we live. We are just off of the Roanoke River, and the place is called On the Greenway for the 'Greenway' paved walking / biking trail that runs beside the river. Anyhoo, the place rents tubes and bikes. Some of the bikes have the little kid thing attachment (not a seat but a buggy) and while driving by one day I exclaimed ' We should rent one of those and take the dogs!' Needless to say all I got was eye rolls and 'that is the worst idea I've ever heard'.

I, however, think it would be a hoot!!!

Yes that would be fab! There is a big park where we used to go that hire bikes like that.

Love Quella's buggy!

I like the idea of a covered stroller....keeps away bugs and excessive sun. Plus it keeps away people who might be a little too willing to just reach in and pet without permission. Lol

Never in my life did I foresee that one day I would be reading about dog strollers. Lol.

I had a Petsmart employee looking in the stroller at Q and we were casually talking about their training classes and the next thing I hear is the zipper being unzipped and Q being pulled out of the stroller. I was in shock and at a loss for words.

Really? That's overstepping the bounds....even if they do work at Petsmart!

That surprises me considering one of the things they go over in the Petsmart training is people having to ask to pet your dog.

I don't even make it through the automatic doors without them yelling her name (while they're ringing someone up). The cashiers even call for backup, so they can walk away from their registers to see Q when we come in. I have noticed the men always ask to say hi to her and I won't complain because they're usually management and super cute.

Bump!

Here's Q going for a walk in her stroller. It's still 96-108 out, so it's a short 1.3 mile walk and she does really well 3/4 of the way before she starts panting, so then I either jog or powerwalk the rest of the way home.

I've went online and found several dog friendly conventions or events throughout the fall/winter season, so I'm super stoked. I plan on Q walking a good portion of our outing, but if she becomes tired, it's a long day or overly populated, I'll plop her in the stroller.

wow, usually PetSmart employees are very good about asking first. at least the times I've been in the store here.

I actually saw a woman in WalMart with one of these last weekend....not a Frenchie though.
