My frenchie Dallas is 1 year and 3 months and has had diarrhea for about a couple weeks now. He has had it for 3 days and then we went to the vet and they gave him 2 shots and then 2 pills- antiinflammintory and antibiotitic. He seemed to get better for a day and then got diarrhea again. We then fed him chicken and rice and got better for a day then got worse again. The vet checked for worms and parasites and they both came up negative. If anyone has any suggestions on what could be wrong please let me know! Also, he has been acting fine and hasn't thrown up, not dehydrated and still playing normal! :(

First thing I would do is take him off his dog food and give him some boiled chicken and rice and canned pumpkin and see if that helps, in case he's become sensitive to his dog food.

Did the vet specifically check for giardia? That won't show up in a fecal test unless specifically tested for. Also, what brand food have you been feeding and how much? Too much food can cause loose stool or if he has a food sensitivity to an ingredient, that can be an issue as well.

Kayla4596 ^^^ agreed, when testing you need to ask for giardia

Rico recently gave me a scare similar... he puked once and it was yellow bile sorry to be gross... then he was just really lethargic and had a poop that was half solid half liquid. I rushed him to the vet thinking he had a blockage and everything checked out fine.... so he was diagnosed with a simple irritated tummy or colon as they put it, a bout with colitis and very normal... thank goodness. Anyway the point of my post is, the vet gave me some probiotic, proviable DC... literally with one dose I noticed a HUGE improvement in his bowel movements in regard to texture and amount. I highly recommend it aside from all that the others have suggested above!

Great idea about the probiotic ! Proviable DC is a great probiotic, also I also think VetriScience Mega Probiotic and Probiotic Miracle are good ones as well. Most vets seem to only give out Fortiflora probiotic which only has one bacteria, as opposed to the previous ones mentioned which have multiple.

Our Frenchie went through a real bad time with diarrahea and we now have her on wellness simple limited ingredient food plus a probiotic(forti flora) in her food each day....she is now doing well. We had continual problems off and on but now the probiotic seems to have her doing well finally

I agree with others, check for giardia, give some probiotics, and also try a different food. Some foods just don't agree with them. Plus too much food will cause loose stools.
