Hi, I’m worried that Florence might have an infection in her vulva. She had just finished bleeding from her second heat a week ago, and when I went to take her out to pee, I noticed she had a yellow discharge. Is it normal for dogs to have a discharge after their heat? Or is it a sign of something more severe?

It could be vaginitis. I never noticed that with my dog. Is she peeing often? She could have a UTI that caused vaginitis. In that case you will need antibiotics.

It might resolve if you give her for a week a good probiotic like live sauerkraut from refrigerator section of health food store, raw goats milk, doggy probiotic like Probiotic Miracle or Proviable DC, or milk kefir .

Sorry kind of late, but it is normal as long as it was just a little discharge, and only happens every once in awhile.
