Bonus is 16 weeks and doing really good on Orijen Puppy right now. She weighs 10.5 lb last week and is in good shape

According to the instruction on the bag, we suppose to feed 1 cup per day.
Since we both need to work during the day, we split 1 cup into 2 meals .. And we also feed her some treats and fruits after dinner.

But Bonus seems really hungry during night, around 9pm... She is always licking the empty bowl and trying to eat every dirt on the floor...
Should I increase the feeding amount?
I know Orijen is very rich and should not feed too much.
I want to know how much do you feed your puppy.

We follow the instructions on the bag pretty closely! Most frenchies can be little piggies and would eat more than they need to if we allowed it! :p

I follow the feeding instructions pretty closely as well. For every single meal Wally licks his bowl so much it ends up at the other side of the room. She probably has enough food but being a typical Frenchie it never seems to be enough. :)

Here is a great guideline...that might help out

8 weeks1/2 cup 3 times a day
12 weeks2/3 to 3/4 cup 3 times a day
4 & 5 months3/4 cup 3 times a day
6 months to 1 year1.25 to 1.5 cups twice a day

thanks for the info...
But is that too much for orijen puppy?

I wouldnt give her more than 1 or 1 1/4 cup a day.
If there is any way you could split it into 3 meals (or feed again before you go to work), that might help a little.

I've been spitting 2.5 cups per day into three meals. Meeka eat's at 6 am,12pm, 6pm. We bought her a automatic dispeser for her food and water because the wife and I work during the day so it helps. I feel like any less and she would starve.. lol She's very undersized for her age I find. At 6.5 months she weigh's just under 11 pounds.

does this apply for Fromm puppy gold too? we started transitioning Camille today and want to make shes getting enough. i was told by her breeder to give 1/2 cup twice a day and shes starting to finish her meals, although some days it takes longer than others.

thanks!

We're feeding the same food! Right now we are feeding :

Aiko (4 MONTHS OLD) 1/4 + 1/3 cups morning and night
1/3 at lunch

Banksy (11 MONTHS OLD) 2 1/3 cups morning lunch and dinner

Linus is just hitting 17 weeks, he's only 6lbs (not skinny, just overall a smaller pup) and I've been feeding him 1/3c x3 of Orijen puppy. Of course he always is in the mood for treats, but his development seems right on track and the vet his happy with his progress.

Thank you for this thread! I have been trying to decide which brand of food to feed my new baby when he comes home and I am sold on Orijen after researching it! I know this isn't what you were asking or looking for but I just wanted to say thanks!

Bonus is doing great these days with 1/2 cups at 9am and 6pm. She is 12lb at 17weeks!
I'm thinking about buying some automatic food dispeser online but they are much expensive in Canada... Canadian dollar worth nothing now...

Daisy is getting a 1/2 cup in the morning and a 1/2 cup in the evening because according to the guidelines on the bag she should be getting a cup a day. She also gets a tablespoon of plain yogurt and 1/4 teaspoon of sardine oil at lunch. Then she gets plenty of treats with potty times and training. She seems to have plumped up in the last week, so I'm a little concerned. Not sure if she is getting too many treats (orijen treats) or her activity level is just not enough. Going to have to keep an eye on things.

Hi guys, anybody recommend verus puppy advantage. I give my 4 month old frenchie it.

I was free feeding him 2 cups per day but recently switched over to half a cup in the morning @ 6am, half a cup @ noon, and another half cup around 5 because of extremely loose stollens pretty much jet stream like.

That might be too much food that is causing the loose poo.... cut back a little at each feeding

some info on it:
Over feeding: Many bulldog breeds, including French Bulldogs, have very sensitive digestive systems. While they act as though you are depriving your pup of food with those sad puppy dog eyes, and sniffing the ground for more at each feeding, many owners think they may not be giving their pup enough food. Giving them even "a little more", or more than they can digest and absorb, will actually cause "soft serve" poop.

If your puppy is experiencing "soft serve ice cream" style poop, you are possibly giving them too much food. The consistency may resemble dog food that has been put in a blender. Since I realized the possibility of over feeding being a problem with soft stools, I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I have been contacted by puppy owners about this. Usually they have been to the vet numerous times, been tested for everything, and still have the problem. After reducing the food by a small portion for a few days, all is well. Their frustration is understandable, because they tell me their vet never even mentioned this as a possibility! If reducing the amount of food doesn't show any improvement in poop consistency within a few days, then it is likely not the culprit.
