Good morning! We just got our first frenchie and my 2 boys first dog! I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and final boy. (I know I'm crazy for the timing)
This is our girl Quinn she was given to us by a family member who knows a reputable breeder but she is 1 1/2 and has spent almost all of her time in a crate 😫 she is loving having freedom and endless cuddles. She is seeing the world around her for the first time and is doing such a great job!
I have a few questions though. What shampoo is going to be the best for her? Also we have a super sweet cat but our cat is not a fan of dogs. Right now there is a gate in my stairs and I have been keeping the cat up there unless she wants outside. How do I introduce them and have my cat not attack the dog? I tried once and was holding my cat but she was hissing and tried to swipe at the dog. The dog was just curious and showed no signs of aggression. I just want them to get along!

I tend to stay with a hypoallergenic shampoo many Frenchie's have allergies to food, environmental and have skin allergies. Being a first time Frenchie owner I would have you read up on the health issues that can be associated with this breed such has BOAS and IVDD in particular. Also, it's good to have health insurance with this breed. I use pets best and they have saved me around 22 thousand dollars so far. Frenchie's are amazing little dogs, but they can be high maintenance and the more knowledge you have the better you can keep them safe. As far as the cat. I wouldn't push the friendship let them come together on their own terms. maybe let the Frenchie sleep with a blanket then take that blanket and put near the cat so she can get use to the smell and such. It will be a transition for sure.

Frenchie's are a handful. I use Embrace Insurance through USAA Insurance. We had a Frenchie. previously, that insurance not so easy to work with. This company is very easy to work with and will pay claims. As far as the cat, have the cat in a room, or place, where it can escape the dog. Just someplace it can get up high enough. Stay to watch and leave them be for a while. Hopefully, they will work things out.

Welcome to FBN… others gave great advice, I have no experience with cats so I can only say I hope they work it out… it will surely take some time
