I do not mind using heart worm treatment every month during mosquito season since it is pretty safe. But I'm nervous to use flea and tick preventatives again since last year every time we applied it the dogs would act weird. I used Frontline and K9 Advantix and had problems with both. The dogs would pant and and move around all night like they were sick. We live in the East coast where it is only flea and tick season April-September. We walk them a few times a day but not on much grass. Should I even use it? Chemicals that are carcinogenic to humans are not really preferred in my house hold especially if we ever have children in the future. We buy mostly organic food and products in our home and if there is a "green" preventative that would be great. Need some opinions, thanks!

We use Sentinel for our Heartworm prevention and it works for fleas too. We use nothing else, and don't have a flea problem.

I'm worried about ticks too I found a herbal squeeze on solution that has a certain oil that ticks cannot stand and read great things about it.

Natural remedies would be Amber Collars or also Dr. mercola's Flea & Tick defense which is all natural.
99% of flea/tick preventions are chemical based and everytime we use chemicals on our(dogs) body, it suppresses the immune system and is a burden on kidney & liver. Id avoid it as much as possible. I have never used any flea/tick preventions or heartwork medication on my pets. But we also live in NS, so no big outbreaks here.

Use the same... With Vectra 3D fir ticks
