Well, what do we have here? Fleura Bella, our very special foster frog, has made her way to the available page and is on the lookout for her perfect forever family! We think she'll find it in no time!
Fleura Bella was surrendered when her previous owner just was not able to spend as much time with her as she deserved. They knew we'd be able to find Fleura Bella a place where she could get all the loves and snuggles she wanted! Doesn't matter if it's squeaky toys, bones or antlers, Fleura Bella loves to play with toys. But if you leave your lap unattended for even a moment, you might find 23 pounds of Frenchie on there!
Fleura Bella is a sweet, calm pup with a bit of an adventurer's streak in her! She does have some health issues, but they're well maintained with consistently-given medication so don't let that scare you off! Fleura Bell has epilepsy and hypothyroidism. Her epilepsy is well-controlled with a pill that she takes every 12 hours on the dot. Fleura Bella's forever family MUST be able to give her this medication every 12 hours exactly without skipping a pill. So long as she is on this medication her seizures are infrequent and controlled. If you have experience with dogs and medication and/or epilepsy, be sure to let us know about it in your application. You can read more about epilepsy in dogs by clicking here.
While she does also have hypothyroidism that is pretty well controlled by her medication. All that's left of her hypothyroidism is some skin discoloration and fur loss. We think the raw diet she's on (and will have to remain on!) is helping in that regard!
Please don't let Fleura Bella's illness deter you from applying for this very special frog. She is calm and submissive with other people and other dogs. She'd love a home with another canine buddy (about her size or larger) for her to pal around with. She's pretty low energy when hanging in the house, but as soon as you put a leash on her she could walk forever! Her foster family has been working with her on her leash manners and they're getting better every day! Fleura Bella is quick to learn and please!
A home with kids would be great for Fleura Bella. Her foster mom reports that she is great with kids of all ages!
However, Fleura Bell has never been tested with cats so she will not be adopted to a home with feline friends. This FBRN policy is in place to keep both our Frenchies and our kitties safe!
Fleura Bella is pretty well potty trained. But sometimes she's so quiet that if you don't notice her waiting at the back door for you she'll potty in the house! Something like bell training might be just the ticket for Fleura Bella! She is crate trained and can do well alone in the house for short periods of time even without her crate!
Fleura Bella must have a fenced in yard! That adventuring streak means sometimes she likes to escape the yard and go for walks on her own! A securely fenced yard is necessary to keep this escape artist safe, unless your home is an apartment, in which case the fenced yard preference will be waived.
Ideally, Fleura Bella's forever family will have someone who stays at home with her. She spent much of her life alone and in her crate - her forever home should be filled with together time! Young, old, single or a family would not matter to Fleura Bella at the end of the day. Not so long as she got to spend her time with her person. She will need a long walk each day to expend her energy and might even go to work with you if it was a closed office - lots of comings and goings might mean that she can practice her Houdini skills!
